DVSN, THE BRILLIANT R&B DUO

DVSN

The R&B duo Dvsn, didn’t waste any time to offer us new music to start 2021 the right foot.  The Deluxe version of the album “A Muse in her Feelings” released in 2020, was born on January 15th 2021. Called “Amusing Her Feelings”, (don’t get lost with the name of the album) the EP offers 4 new tracks, including a featuring with Miguel – find it in the 2nd Try’s February playlist.

AN AMAZING DUO

Rather discrete on the French musical scene, the Canadian duo, formed by the singer Daniel Daley and the popular producer Nineteen85 – Paul Jefferies – to whom we owe the famous hits « Hold On, We’re Going Home » and « Hotline Bling » by Drake, joins his label OVO Sound Records in 2016, after 2 promising songs released in 2015 : “The Line” and “With Me”.

Far from the R&B without feelings where the seduction wins over commitment, the duo approaches relationships differently. Their 90’s R&B romantic aesthetic makes their success and their first album “September 5th”, released in 2016, promised a beautiful carrier for the duo. And it’s true, the album ends up 17 of the Billboard Top Albums R&B/Hip-Hop ratings the same year.

One year later, their second album « Morning After » was born, inspired by the cinema – as the album cover shows. The melancholic tones of the cover announce the color of the album : heartbreak and fucked up relationships, full of ups and downs that keep us from moving on. Even though it is a dark subject, Daniel Daley’s soft and délicate voice eases the pain.

Nineteen85 also has an important role to play. He accompanies the singer with pop, hip hop , soul sonorities to create an almost cinematographic melody. Their success goes on and one year later, “A Muse in Her Feelings” is released.

THEIR LATEST PROJECT

The duo’s third album wants to be different from the others but with a similar conductor line. It means that we stay on the same topic : complex romantic and sexual relationships, narrated on their signature sound, a sensual R&B. The innovation here is the appearance of different talented guests on the album, such as Future on “No Cryin”, Popcaan on “So What” and Buju Banton and Ty Dolla $ign on “Dangerous City.” Once again, “A Muse In Her Feelings” was recognized on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2020.

Their latest release was the Deluxe version of “A Muse In Her Feelings”. The Deluxe EP, called “Amusing Her Feelings”, contains 4 saving tracks that brought something that was missing on the album, to finish it. The album cover is more intimate and nostalgic this time, as if the narration changed through these 4 tracks, like the  featuring with Miguel.

The climb of this duo is something to watch closely. Discover their albums and tell us what you think about them in our dm’s on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter !
